Album of The Week
Trippie Red-'A Love Letter to You 3'
I chose this album simply because it’s so cool! I know that sounds corny. I was never a huge fan of Trippie Red before this album not because I didn’t like him but simply because I didn’t know if his music was going to be my taste. I thought he was going to be like another Lil Pump or Lil Xan. I like these two artists but I’m not a fan of their work. I just like a couple of songs and features by them. And I would say the same for Trippie Red but this album made me think otherwise.
I was always a fan of his style and voice. I love the fact that he’s literally taking the voice of punk rock n roll and using it in Hip-hop. Hip-Hop is a very diverse genre And I can appreciate this innovation, especially from a black man. Lil Uzi does this as well but his music is always upbeat while Trippie Red takes a chiller angle. I wasn’t sure how he was going to portray this style on a whole album until now. It all makes sense!
From concept to sound this album is dope. The concept is cohesive throughout the whole album. He didn’t need many big name features to make it cool. And none of the other artist’s features overshadow him. I can also appreciate hip-hop music that helps you express your feelings without being too dark or feminine. Trippie Red was well aware of the vibe he wanted for this album. This pocket allows his voice to never get annoying or boring throughout the album.
Favorite Songs:
Topanga- The innovation of this song is fire. The beat is everything in conjunction with the flow. No wonder it’s the number one streamed song.
Negative Energy- Can’t resist a calm and authentic vibe. And no one likes negative energy and this song is consistent with that theme.
Love Scars 3- I love his singing on this track. He’s pouring his heart out on a fire a** beat that goes so well with his voice. It’s a bop.
I tried Loving-This song is the most relatable song to me. I really feel this song every time it comes on. Can’t help but to sing along to it.
Diamond Minds (feat. Tory Lanez & Elliot Trent)- All the artists on this song flowed so well together. I like the contrast from Trippies voice to Elliot’s to Tory’s. It’s like a climax after climax, a whole vibe.
