JID
J.I.D. is probably the most poppin’ Dreamville artists at the moment, well aside from J-Cole and Ari Lennox. I discovered JID when he dropped “The Never Story” in 2017. I liked that album. In my opinion, the end of the album was better than the beginning. But in general, it was a good piece of work. However, the album didn’t really gain him any momentum. I actually forgot about JID after that. It wasn’t until he dropped “Off Deez” (feat J.Cole) that I fell in love.
Now this song has the flow, the beat, the lyrics, amazing frequency changes, and the feature (Lol’). It’s just straight fire. I don’t see how anyone can not like it. I feel like this song is what put JID on the map. It also gave him momentum for his album DiCaprio 2. After this song, everyone I knew wanted to know more about him and anticipated his next move.
His album “Dicaprio 2” was definitely NOT a disappointment. This album was diverse throughout yet cohesive as a collective. I put my favorite songs off the album down below. After this album release, JID has been making money moves. And Dreamville has been stronger than ever so that obviously helps. They had the Dreamville brunch, the “Revenge of Dreamers III”. And he’s been the highlight of them all. He’s been doing interviews since 2017 but now he’s actually being heard. People say he’s in the same league as Cole and Kendrick. So I can’t wait to see what he does on the “Catch Me if You Can tour” and his other performances.
