Young Dolph released his album ‘Rich Slave’ on August 14th. I anticipated the release of this album after he dropped ‘RNB’ and ‘Death Row’. Young Dolph continues to level up with each album he creates. Young Dolph’s tone is untouchable. And his flow is very original.
I commend Young Dolph for having an engaging storyline on every album. Everything from the cover art to the eye-catching titles is cohesive. And “Rich Slave” does not come short of that. I love it when artists successfully use interludes. The interludes in this album really give Nostalgia of Dolph’s background and upbringing as well as the challenges he still faces as a black man in America.
“It’s the reality of being Black in this country. You can have money, and you can be a benefactor and a leader in your community, but all people see is Black skin,” Young Dolph said. “All the bullshit I heard about as a kid, we still face in today’s time. Over the years, they have given us a little bit of freedom but it’s only a temporary pacifier. Hopefully, this album makes people understand that even though guys like me are doing well, we’re still affected by racism and inequality. It’s 2020, but the same stuff is still going on.” -Young Dolph
This album showcased his diversity. Everything was so Young Dolph but elevated. His lyrical content was more complex. The production suited him just right. Shoutout to BandPlay, Drumma Boy, Sosa 808, Memphis legend, and Juicy J for catering to his sound. All the tracks were still hard but with different sources of energy. The tracklist and features: G Herbo, Key Glock, and the on-fire Megan Thee Stallion, were well-thought-out.

Fav’ Songs
- To be Honest- Best chorus on the whole album. His flow is legendary on this track. The beat is a vibe. Plus, I love any track where Dolph talks smack.
- Hold Up Hold Up Hold Up– This that riding in the car with your windows down type of vibe. He’s talking some real sh*t. And the chorus is catchy with its repetitiveness.
- I See $’s– The beat steals the show on this track but it’s perfect for Dolph’s flow. I don’t think anyone could do it better. This track has the best lyrics for Insta’ captions when you’re trying to flex’.
- Death Row- This beat is a bit more complex with some major frequency changes but Dolph manages to ride it the whole way through. This crazy combination keeps the song’s vibe in the pocket.
- RNB (feat. Megan Thee stallion)– This song blends both Dolph’s and Megan’s style so well. It stood strong as a single. Plus, I love a song that I can do a calm twerkout to.
