As you may know, I’m always looking for new artists to listen to. And in my recent search, I came across singer/songwriter, Rimon. Rimon is an Eritrean-born and Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter, who made her debut when she dropped her EP BBYGIRL FOCU$ back in 2018. Now, I didn’t know of her at the time. So I’m just now listening to that particular project. And don’t get me wrong, it’s amazing. But what really drew me into her artistry was when she dropped her latest single, “The Morning”. This song had me anticipating the release of the EP, ‘I Shine, U Shine. And I’ve been a fan since.

Her first EP was a very well made project. I liked her somewhat alternative or singer/songwriter take on neo-soul. However, while I commend it, I do think that the modernization of neo-soul in ‘BBYGIRL FOCU$ was a bit forced while her most recent EP, felt so natural and authentic. Her style is evident in “I Shine, U Shine”. All six tracks are great. I can’t even choose a favorite. She fits in with the vibe of the new R&B artists yet she’s still very different. It makes me excited to see what her future holds.
