People are always doing crazy things or making grand gestures during their Haute Couture fashion shows. But I find that many of them lack purpose or a concentrated focus. However, this was not the case with Pyer Moss’s fall 2021 Couture fashion show. Everything was on point!
“It was definitely emotional, I was definitely flustered. Mostly I felt so bad for all the people who had flown in especially to be here,” said Jean-Raymond who was forced to cancel the show that day. “But I guess that’s how the universe works.”-Kerby Jean-Raymond according to Vogue
Unfortunately, The first scheduled show had to be rescheduled due to the unpredictable rainstorm that lasted for hours. But founder and designer, Kerby Jean-Raymond’s well-deserved following did not fret. In fact, it seemed like the audience was even more excited for the re-scheduled show. Kerby is the first African American to present on the couture calendar in the Chambre Syndicale’s 150 years plus history. We had every reason to be excited. Plus, the wait was well worth it!
“These are inventions by Black people and I wanted to reintroduce them to Black people, reverse the erasure that may exist—and to troll a little bit, too,” – @kerbito according to Vogue.
