Deadpan- Cautious Clay Review

Omg, my heart dropped when I saw that Cautious Clay finally dropped something new. I’ve been a fan of Cautious Clay since “Crown”. I’ve seen him perform twice, at SXSW 2019 and Governor’s Ball 2019. This man is extremely talented. On top of having a bomb a** tone of voice, he plays the guitar, flute, saxophone, and I’m sure many more instruments. I can’t wait to see him again!

The anticipation was high, knowing that his new release, “Deadpan Love” was going to be nothing short of Amazing. Of course, it did not disappoint! Cautious Clay does it again with another project that you can listen to from beginning to end. In my opinion, Cautious Clay is a pioneer of today’s trending indie R&B. They’ve created a new genre that has taken our playlists and festivals by storm. Giving us all the much-needed vibes.

Favorite Songs

Yeah, I know that’s half the album. I couldn’t choose! Lol’

  1. Shook- The melody is everything. They Sampled the catchy part of Mariah Carey’s Honey but still made it sound completely different.
  2. Karma & Friends- All the feels. Relatable lyrics. what more could you ask for?
  3. Strange Love (Ft. Saba)- The perfect Feature! The whole track sits “in the pocket”
  4. Dying in the Subtletly- The track has a cool, calm, and collective vibe with a great climax of a course.
  5. Artificial Irrelevance- Plenty of diverse sounds including the Saxophone. This acoustice track will definitely have you in your feelings
  6. Wildfire- the most poopular track and I see why. It’s classic Cautious Clay. Simply an amazing arrangement that you’ll want to know all the lyrics too.

Last year was a festival-less summer due to the pandemic. But this year, the festivals are active and high in attendance. Will you be attending festivals this year?
