In an animal-filled fashion show, Naomi Campbell, Irina Shayk, and Shalom Harlow walk the runway while Kylie Jenner and Doja Cat sit in the front row.
Paris Couture Week got off to a wild start as Schiaparelli kicked off proceedings with a decadent star-studded spring 2023 show.
It turned out that the roar-inspiring garment was a sign of things to come, as Shalom Harlow later walked out in a fur midi with a huge, life-size snow leopard’s head affixed to the front and Naomi Campbell in a black cloak with a wolf’s head protruding from the shoulder. The fact that Irina Shayk joined Kylie in wearing a lioness dress is evidence that the top stars these days have access to couture before it ever makes it to the runway.
Daniel Roseberry has succeeded in reviving the avant-garde, outré aesthetic that creator Elsa Schiaparelli was known for in the short time since he took over the leadership at historic couture business Schiaparelli in 2019. In doing so, he has solidified Schiaparelli at the forefront of modern cool.
The front row at today’s show, which included Ruth Wilson, Diane Kruger, and Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain, was proof of that. Doja Cat made a stunning appearance covered from head to toe in red Schiaparelli, her face and body covered in red paint, and covered in red crystals.
