Album of The Week: Red Moon in Venus-Kali Uchis

Singer-Songwriter, Kali Uchis’s third studio album “Red Moon in Venus” is pure ascension. Kali is the ‘Indie Queen’ but this album was on another level. Her ability to connect her Colombian culture with pop-funk, Neo-soul, and today’s new wave of indie music is magical. Kali Uchis’s music transcends time and this album is no different.

The cosmic energies of the cosmos are frequently called upon in Uchis’ blissful melodies to bring about divine influence and feeling. A Red Moons is an astronomical event that occurs when the Moon moves into the Earth’s shadow, causing the moon to be darkened known as a blood moon. This album challenges us to experience the strength of love’s force, whether for good or ill, in its nuances of grief and desire. There are plenty of nodes to astrology in this album, the concept being to surrender to the transcendence of possession and let go of love’s brutish gravity.

This album is an escape with control. Kali Uchis’s fantastical style was not only highlighted but elevated. “Red Moon in Venus” was cohesive and took you on a journey through Kali’s perspective on love. It’s definitely a ten out of ten!
