There has yet to be a Gunna project that I don’t listen to frequently. All of his albums have fire beats, hard-hitting bass, and features from some of the best in the game. So the question is, how is ‘Drip Season 4Ever’ different? The first Track ‘Private Island’ immediately sets a different tone than what we’re used to from Gunna. He pairs an alternative melody with the traditional rolling kick and bass sounds of trap music. This makes the start of the album much more gentle despite the vibe of the next viral track.
Some may say that there isn’t much differentiation from this album, aside from a few songs. And while I somewhat agree, I also believe “If it’s not broke don’t fix it”. Gunna’s music use’s a complex combination of fast pulsing hi-hats, heavy bass, cosmic melodies, and his original flow to create trap productions. Producer, Wheezy always creates a perfectly Gunna branded beat. Shout out to the production contributions from heavyweight producers Turbo, Metro Boomin, and Mike WiLL Made. My point being, Gunna sticking to this theme for the majority of this album was an overall good decision even though the album doesn’t show much artistry evolution.
